Shanda Updates “Mir 2,” Aurora Starts “Mo Dao” CB
Shanda (Nasdaq:SNDA) has released a new version of its licensed MMORPG Legend of Mir 2, “Huxiao Zhongzhou,” which adds two new dungeons and three characters to the game, according to Mir 2′s official site.
Shanda’s Chengdu-based online game subsidiary Aurora Interactive announced it will start closed beta testing of its licensed 2.5D fantasy MMORPG Mo Dao Online on February 26. Gamer data will not be deleted after the testing, according to the announcement.
Unnamed sources say Shanda plans to release an online game Zero World in the middle of this year, DoNews reported February 9. Shanda President Chen Tianqiao, Shanda Games (Nasdaq:GAME) CEO Tan Qunzhao and Shanda film production and distribtuion joint venture Shengshi Film president Danni Long are also in talks with US filmmaker Bruce Branit to produce a related movie, the report said.
Shanda started initial testing of “Chuanqi Xuzhang” (roughly, “Mir’s Next Chapter”), an updated version of Legend of Mir 2, in one server farm on February 12. Mo Dao Online began second-round alpha testing on November 17.
