The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) does not ban gaming advertisements on television, 163.com reports February 26 sourcing a SARFT official. SARFT has announced that it forbids TV broadcasts of gaming programs, but not advertising, an unnamed SARFT official said in a telephone interview with 163.com.

The official was responding to accusations that online game companies including Shanda (Nasdaq:SNDA), Perfect World (Nasdaq:PWRD) and Giant Interactive (NYSE:GA) have been violating SARFT’s regulations by advertising games on television, the report said.

SARFT announced that it had banned TV stations from broadcasting online game programs in 2004, said the report.
